Technology is making filmmaking more affordable than ever. Free and open-source (FOSS) tools are getting better. But it’s often difficult to determine how to get everything working together; the best tool is useless unless it can fit into your workflow. OpenFilmmaking will help document these workflows, highlight problem areas, and encourage development of new and improved tools.
On our wiki, will be hosting “workflows,” or “stacks,” of FOSS tools and describe how they work together in an effective way. When gaps exist, we will encourage development of new tools, such as BlenderAVC, currently in active development. I will also be blogging about my own experiences in filmmaking, and my 20-year plan to create a feature film.
